Ever sat down on the toilet seat and felt a chill go up your spine? It’s not a comforting feeling. It’s shocking and irritating to say the least. You may want your house a bit chilly but not the seat you sit on to go to the restroom.
There are great options for that – and you can choose either type of heated toilet seat method that you wish.
Let me share them with you…

Option #1: Heated Toilet Seat Warmers
There are toilet seats like the Brondell LumaWarm Heated Nightlight Toilet Seat - Fits Elongated Toilets, White (one of the top sellers for this feature that also comes in a round toilet seat warmer option) that allow you to have an inviting experience when you need to go.
The nightlight is optional – you can turn it off. But if you like it, it emits a warm, blue glow that helps you find the seat without having to turn on the light and disturb your spouse.
The seat temperature can be set according to three different levels, so if you want a mild warmth, you can do that – or choose medium or high heat.
The warmed toilet seat’s lid closes gently and softly, so it doesn’t make a loud, jarring noise. It comes in biscuit and white colors and has 4.7 out of 5 stars – plus free delivery if you have Amazon Prime.
It fits all toilet fixtures that are standard size. Some customers remark about how this particular toilet seat made them feel like it instantly turned their home’s bathroom into a five star feel. It’s an upscale perk, and considering how much of our lives are spent on the potty, it’s something you should invest in!
It’s also something especially comforting to both children and elderly individuals.
Tip: Some people add on this exact extension cord ( Fellowes 1-Outlet 3-Prong Heavy Duty Indoor Extension Cord, 9 Feet - 99595 Gray ) if they don’t have a plug anywhere near their toilet.
Option #2: Cheaper Toilet Seat Warmth
So let’s say you don’t want to swap out your toilet seat – you just wish it wasn’t so freaking COLD! You can get nice cloth warmers that fit snugly right over the seat itself. You can remove and wash them anytime.
You can get something like the warm and comfy cloth toilet seat covers that come in blue, pink, purple, green, and brown. They’re under $10 and look like this:
You can get one and it’ll fit almost all elongated or round toilet seats. The plush feeling gives it even more comfort than just a heated seat, so it’s great for – again, kids, elderly or even pregnant women who need a little more pampering.
Some people use these toilet seat covers year round but others use them only in the winter when the chill becomes unbearable and you don’t want to crank up the heat and have a hefty electric bill.
There are all sorts of plain or designed toilet seat warmer covers. This company makes a cute set – one (shown) is a green frog. They also have choices on the page for a yellow ducky or a blue elephant.
Check out all of the warm toilet seat covers here that are plush in nature – they have everything – all colors, ones that look like wood or marble, fun ones, lacy ones, holiday ones and more!
So which one will you get? A heated electric toilet seat – or a warm, plush and washable option?
FAQ
I can’t believe I went 68 years before I realized I needed a heated toilet seat. Well, maybe they weren’t available all those years. My Brondell L60-EW is wonderful! Three heat settings, although I only use low. A night light that I don’t use however it could be convenient. No more chilled bottoms in the middle of the night! My husband (retired electrician), did have to install a gfi receptacle to plug the seat into, our bathroom is small and only had one receptacle. That wasn’t a problem for us at all. I would recommend it to anyone. You won’t regret it!
My Brondell L60-EW turns every morning into a pampered spa treatment where I can just relax and start the day with a huge smile. It’s truly amazing how something this simple can make you wonder how you went so long without it. I’m serious, just one time on it and I couldn’t imagine not having it. I cringe at thinking about another cold seat again! I haven’t taken it off of the lowest heat setting yet, it is toasty and warm and just waiting for me right now 🙂 My one and ONLY complaint would be the fact that I don’t use my squatty potty anymore because it raises my legs off of the warm toilet seat… and I loved my squatty potty 🙁
Is there a way to heat up toilet paper before use? I figure the Japanese have heated toilet seats, so why not toilet paper?
Toilet seats are more conductive of heat than toilet paper. The paper can’t draw much heat out of you, so there’s no point in warming it before use; not, at least, as long as it’s stored in a location that’s a habitable temperature, such as a bathroom.
